Censored Gallery

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 24 August 2026

The short version

Your photos and videos never leave your device.

Censored Gallery does all of its work on your iPhone. It has no account, no server, and no analytics. It does not upload your images, it does not send us what it detects in them, and it does not report what you do in the app — because there is nowhere for any of that to go.

What we collect

Nothing.

We do not collect, receive, store or have access to:

  • your photos or videos, or any part of them
  • what the app detects in your photos or videos
  • your settings, or the styles you choose
  • your device identifiers, location or contacts
  • any usage, diagnostic or crash data

There is no account to create and no way to sign in, because the app has no server to sign in to.

Permissions the app asks for, and why

Censored Gallery asks for these only when it needs them. You can refuse or revoke any of them in iOS Settings, and the parts of the app that do not need them keep working.

PermissionWhyWhat happens to the data
PhotosTo show your library so it can be censored as you browseRead on your device only. Nothing is uploaded.
Add photosTo save a censored copy when you ask for oneWritten to your library on your device.
CameraTo censor the live camera before it reaches the screenFrames are processed and discarded. Nothing is recorded unless you take a photo or record a video.
MicrophoneTo record sound with your videosCaptured only while recording, and saved only into that video.

How the censoring works

The app uses AI models that are bundled inside the app itself and run on your device’s own hardware. Detection happens on your iPhone, in your iPhone’s memory. No image, frame or detection result is transmitted anywhere.

Where the app can censor content before it is ever shown to you, it does — the camera is censored before the picture reaches the screen, and photos in your library are covered until they have been checked.

What is stored, and where

Everything the app stores is on your device, in the app’s own storage:

  • Your settings — the censor style, what to censor, and related options
  • A record of which photos have been checked, so the app does not repeat the work every time you scroll
  • Which photos you edited and with what style, so they keep looking the way you left them

Deleting the app removes all of it. None of it is backed up to us, because we have no servers.

Editing your photos

When you edit a photo or video in the app, iOS keeps your original file untouched and stores the censored version alongside it. You can undo the edit at any time — in this app, or in Apple’s own Photos app — and get the original back. The app never overwrites an original.

Sharing with our other app

If you also have DeniedPixels (our Safari content blocker) installed, the two apps share a small amount of information on your device only, using Apple’s App Group mechanism:

  • your censoring preferences, so both apps behave the same way
  • whether a paid entitlement exists, so it applies in both
  • whether the other app has been used, so we do not advertise an app you already have

This never leaves your iPhone and is not visible to us. It works only because both apps are published by the same developer, and iOS deletes it when the last of the two apps is removed.

This website

The app collects nothing. This website is an ordinary website, and to be straightforward about it:

  • our web host keeps standard server logs — IP address, browser type, pages requested — for security and to keep the site running
  • the site sets no advertising or tracking cookies

The contact form

If you use the form on our Support page, the name, email address and message you enter are sent to us by email so that we can reply. They are used for that and nothing else: not added to a mailing list, not shared with anyone, and not used for marketing. If you would rather not use the form, email us directly at the address below.

We do not sell your data

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information.

Children

Censored Gallery is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. The app is intended for adults who want control over what they see in their own photo library, and for parents and guardians setting that up on a device.

Your rights

Everything the app stores is on your device and under your control:

  • change or clear your settings in the app at any time
  • revoke any permission in iOS Settings
  • delete the app to remove everything it has stored

If you have contacted us and want the message deleted, or want to ask what we hold, email support@censoredgallery.com and we will respond.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. If the app ever starts collecting anything, we will say so here before it does, in plain language.
